I have a home on the big island of hawaii, have made four trips in the last year and have rented a car every time. I decided to look for the best deal and stumbled across Hawaii discounts.com. Plugged in my information and behold I received a fairly good price, not the best I had ever got though. I went ahead and booked the car based on the price they gave me, receipt said paid in full, but according to them somewhere it says taxes are not included, or something similar to that.
Again my receipt said paid in full, but upon returning rental car they wanted to charge me an additional $400 dollars. I told them I paid for the car thru Hawaii rentals and I thought I paid the bill in full. They (Alamo) reduced it by $100.00 dollars lowering the additional charges to $300 plus dollars (Alamo was very concerned about my issue).
Bottom line is I could have booked direct with Alamo or two other companies, would have received the total charges upfront and still could have beat Hawaii Discounts.com prices. This was the worst rental car price I have ever received while visiting the Big Island.
They should make it clear upfront that their price isnt the full price, but instead they use deceptive selling practices. I would not reccommend them to anyone!!!
