Shady sales practices

I went to the dealership and spent NUMEROUS hours... I pickedout a vehicle, offered a clean title for my trade and was told that since itslate in the evening no one is in the office to approve the financing and that Iwould have an answer by 10 am the next day. I told the dealership that i had $4000 to put down on thecar but that i would not have the money until the end of the month. The salesman Jason Johnson gladlyoffered to hold a check for me until the money posted. I went back to the dealership atnoon on the following day and was told "Its your loan, all we need is fivereferences and a pay stub."

While filling out my references Jason Johnson coached me into tellingCrescent Trust and Bank (the finance company) that i put a cash down payment onthe car... I then talked to Tim Carpenter, the "Finance Director" (orlack thereof) and he continued to coach me saying that i made a cash downpayment and not to tell the bank that they are holding the check. I signed the loan paperwork and herefused to give me a copy of it until the check posted. Also as soon as i got home with thecar, i noticed that the "change oil" message was on. This only shows when you first crankthe car. Each time i got in the car, it was already running so i never saw it. The car also had stains in it and Jason offered to reset the oil light for me.

After a week of driving "my" new car, i got a call from Tim Carpenter statingthat my salary on my paystubs didnt match what I said on the application andthat he needed his car back. This is AFTER I spent almost $400 dollars on car insurance for the car as well as purchasing a remote since they did not provide one with the car. I went to the dealership to return the car and to get my car back and he said 3 more times that my salary didnt matchand they they look at me YTD in determining my salary. (which is incorrect BTW).

I took my old car home and immediately called the finance company. They stated that "oh no sir, its your rent that caused you to not get approvedfor the caI went to the dealership and spent NUMEROUS hours... We have your correct salary but the amount you pay for rent puts youabove the ratio." Tim Carpenter lied about why the loan was denied, Jason, Johnson didnt offer to find me a cheaper vehicle and told me that the amount ofthe car i am looking to purchase has nothing to do with the approval (which isfalse—when i called the bank they suggested i find a cheaper car). It seems that Jason, as well as Tim isincompetent. Tim does not know howto multiply out a salary based on hourly rate.

I will never again step foot into that car dealership. Tim was rude about the whole thing and even accused me of making up a salary on the application. Never did he apologize for anything, for wasting my time, etc. Had heverified my rent, when i appliedfor the loan, this would have been avoided. I should have known when i went there three different timesand there wasn't a single customer in site that there was something wrong. Rloan, not how much you make.
