I sent my 17 year old son to Jiffy Lube #1308 for an oil change. My son presented the service person with a coupon for $7.00 off of "signature service". He asked for an "oil change only". As is typical, the bay service person invited my 17 year old son in to review the service persons findings.
Being 17, and not knowing much about automobiles, my son assumed that everything the service person stated, or suggested, was part of the service. The Jiffy guy never mentioned associated costs. After all was said and done, instead of paying $31.00. He was charged $152.35. He was shocked and traumatized. He paid. What else could he do? He is 17. He was taught to respect adults. He was scared. He called me. I was irrate!
I called Julius Adams, Service Manager. I told him what happened. He said my son agreed to purchase all the services. I told Julius that the bay person never mentioned cost. I told Julius my son requested an "oil change only".
Julius kept refering to my son a "gentleman". I told Julius that my son was a 17 year old. He's a minor. He asked for an oil change. He expected an oil change.instead, he got hustled. Julius said he is unable to judge age. I asked if he would serve alcohol to my son. He said, Jiffy Lube doesn't serve alcohol. Wise Guy!
I called Customer Service and requested a refund either in money or service coupons. They told me that tThe Regional Manager, Richard Canady, would only offer a free oil change. My son was hustled out of $120.00 and all they were willing to do is provide me with a coupon for one oil change. Jiffy Lube needs to learn how to put the customer first. Most companies' customer service policy is to "meet or exceed customer expectations."
