Michael carter north texas seed does not pay contractors

I live in burkburnett, one night in january i got a call from michael carter with north texas seed in fort worth texas he stated he had 2 guys broke down on hiway so i got in my truck drove 60 miles to his guys took them to motel at 1:00 am the next morning i went picked up his guys took them to there truck on hiway got them goin and now its been 3 months and no payment, michael carter keeps saying the check is in the mail, my brother wants to go visit him at his home but that is not the way to handle it i need legal advise. Thank you
