A few years ago I purchased a 1991 Chevy 1500 with only 25,000 miles (or al least that's what the odometor read) from Charles Gabus Ford. It was the worst experience I have ever had with any business.
For starters, when I purchased the truck and was filling out the paperwork the finance guy told me that I needed to sign a form stating that I had proper insurence. It appeared to be a half sheet of paper with some simple statements. So I signed it because I already had auto insurance.
However, when I got home I reviewed all the paperwork closely, because everyone at that place seemed like a vulture. I noticed that the half sheet of paper was actually a full sheet and I had just agreed to pay over $900 for auto insurance that I did NOT need. I went straight to the finance manager's office at Gabus and informed him of what happend. He didn't seem to really care, but cancelled the insurance only because he was obligated to by law.
Now is when things got real good.
About three weeks later the engine blew in my truck (rememeber this was supposed to only have 25,000 miles on it). Since it was still under the 90 day warranty Gabus had to fix it. Well, about six weeks later I finally got it back. I was told that it was replaced with an engine that had 25,000 miles on it.
My truck hardly ran at all. It was blowing all kinds of blue smoke out the back and the engine knocked, stalled, and had no oil pressure. I took it back to Gabus twice and they told me that there was nothing wrong with it and I was just trying to be difficult.
I finally had to take it to my own mechanic. He told me that there were several bad sensors, there were oil pan bolts missing, and it was knocking and blowing smoke because the engine in it had at least 100,000 miles on it. It ended up costing me over $300 just to get the thing running.
I figure if I can keep just one person from buying from there, I've done my job.
Whatever you do stay away from the sleaze that oozes at charles gabus ford!!!
