I went to Slimans around 1/30 to look at a car.
The salesman, Tom Szudarek, asked if I would sign a consent for my credit report to be pulled to ascertain what APR I would qualify for. I told him, "I do not want a report pulled. The more times a report is pulled, the lower ones score goes." He asked me at least twice throughout our time together for me to sign the consent but I refused.
We ended the meeting when I told him I would discuss the car with my husband.
Tom called the next day to tell me what my interest would be and more information about the car. He also left a message but I didn't return his call.
On 2/9 I received a letter from a local bank informing me what our options were for financing the car from Slimans and loan amount. Tom and I never agreed on a loan amount! It was apparent from this letter that Slimans told this bank that it was okay to run a credit report!
I called and spoke with a sales manager, and told him how angry I was that Slimans invaded my privacy by pulling my credit report without my consent. I also told him to NEVER call me again and that I would NEVER buy a car from them!!!
I felt totally violated! I am still in total shock that my credit report was pulled when I was VERY specific not to pull one.
To add insult to injury, Slimans also pulled my husband's credit report. My husband wasn't even there when I looked at the car. My husband was at WORK!!! What a total and complete invasion of privacy!
