1997 Grand Marquis — I was so proud of my car; then the problems began. As soon as the warranty expired, so did the 4-way flashers, and the turn signals worked erratically.
In Feb, '04 the engine died when put into drive. The service department fixed my problems at a cost of $736.73.
In March'04 the intake manifold cracked and the car overheated. This time I took the car to a private Auto Repair Shop and the cost was $927.82.
Since the replacement part (cost $583.33) was totally different from the original PLASTIC part, the mechanic suggested there might be a recall on the original part, so I called the dealership and was advised there was no recall and they didn't know why the part had been changed.
I have since discovered there WAS a recall, but ONLY for POLICE VEHICLES and TAXICABS.
I strongly feel that the Ford Company should cover the cost of the parts whose failure is due to their defective design.
