I was returning my Nissan lease to Smithtown Nissan and was looking for another vehicle; The lease was underwritten by Nissan and i had a great experience with them (no bogus fees and a fair and honest damage assessment) — after hours of going back in forth in a high pressure sales environment I settled on a Nissan Rouge — I demanded that Nissan underwrite the lease as i had such a great experence with them and told them the only way I would lease the vehicle would be if Nissan was involved, they said no problem — we settled on a priceand they took my lease and brought the new car around, they gave me the paperwork and it said Hann Financial on the top, i told the sales person i only want a nissan lease and he told me don't worry it is a Nissan owned company, so i trusted him and signed the paperwork.
Only later did i discover it was Not a Nissan lease but some company out of Jersey, figured i got taken but what could i do that point... Now 3 years later i have a big problem. The lease company first made me ship the car across the county (i paid almost $1000) back to jersey, the Nissan lease would have allowed me to return the car anywhere (i moved to FL)
Now they are charging me all these bogus fees and are playing games with damages on the car; they said i damaged the vehicle so I told them under NYS law i have a right to have an estimate on the vehicle, they responded saying i could see the vehicle however they mailed the letter on 7/21 and they told me I have to have a appriaser see the vehicle on by 7/25 — of course I get the letter on 7/26, the day after the cut off, are you kidding!
They also are not following NYS law (Statue 343) in terms of the entire return process; its like they don't even know about the NY laws, makes zero sense!
Had the dealership not did a last minute bait and switch I would have not gotten stuck with all these bogus fees and found a leasing company that understands the law...
