A few days ago I received 2-$100 restaurant certificates for a Gold Card promotion. On the surface this seemed nice but when investigated further it proved to be far beneath what one would expect from AMEX. Over the many years I have been a user of the Platinum card and now the Gold card and I have been proud of my association with your firm. But following a review of the terms to validate the certificates and the list of restaurants that will honor them here in Tucson, I was astonished that AMEX would stoop to such a promotion. Most of the restaurants listed are no better than diners or coffee shops and the fact that you would have a promotion more suitable for a used car dealer has really made me wonder in which direction you are now heading. I hope this is an oversight and not a new direction you are taking.
