Brickell Motors
False advertising

I found an ad on Craigslist by a "private seller" for a 2004 Mini Cooper. I spoke to Juan Elias, who as it turns out, is a salesperson at Brickell Motors - used car division. The ad stated that the car was for sale for $5,900.00 and had a clean title. I should've known something was up when he asked if we would be interested in a different car (even though the mini cooper was available). After a long drive across town, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Mini Cooper was, in fact, there. However, it had a sticker price upwards of 14K. When I asked about that, he said that he had informed me that he could lower it to 10K. (We NEVER discussed the price on the phone - only the mileage and the fact that it had a clean title. I didn't feel the need to discuss the price because it was clearly listed on the ad.) When I pulled the printed copy of the ad, he tried to give me the run around - he said that he used the pictures of that mini with the details of another, cheaper mini. NOT SO! The mileage matched with what he told me and all of the features matched as well. Besides, why would anyone show pictures of one car with details from another? DEFINITE FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! He offered to show me other cars since I was already there. I'm finding that this is what dealerships are doing. Using false car advertisements as baits to get you there and once you're there, they offer to show you other cars which really aren't worth your time or money!
