Valley Ford Hazelwood MO
Service Department

I have been a loyal customer to Valley Ford for years. Our household has purchased three vehicles from them, and we also took all of our vehicles to them for service over the years. I live about 1 mile from another Ford dealership, but chose to continously drive approximately 8 miles out of my way to specifically use Valley Ford.in addition, I have purchased parts and other items from them from time to time.

Recently, I took my Ford F-250 to them because it had a chip in it, that I had to have taken out so I could tow a camper. I dropped off the vehicle in the morning and they had it done later that afternoon. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, after paying and receiving my keys, I got in my truck and when I started it, the battery light was on. I went back into the service department and told the service man that the light was on so he told me he would send someone out to look at it. A few minutes later a mechanic came out and was working under the hood, as I stood off to the side. He closes my hood and as he breezes by me, he says "You need an alternator" and keeps on walking. He never bothers to stop and explain anything to me. So then the original service man comes out and tells me that my alternator is testing bad and it needs to be replaced and immediately goes into how it has nothing to do with anything they did, that sometimes these things happen. He then tells me that the battery light wasn't on when they pulled it out of the bay, and if it was they would have told me. So immediately my thoughts are "they are trying to say this JUST happened when I started the truck, and it's my fault". Being a woman, and not knowing much about vehicles, I ask him "what do I do now?" He replies, "You need to have the alternator replaced", so I ask him "Can I make it home if I drive it?" and he responds "Depending on far you live, is whether or not you make it"!! He was absolutely flippant and didn't care less whether I made it home, broke down, or wrecked and died. So I call my husband, who immediately drives up there, and confronts the service man. My husband wanted to talk to the mechanic, they wouldn't let him, and again the service man was completely flippant with him. So we leave being very angry with our experience. My husband drives the truck immediately to a friend who owns a shop, and the friend tests everything and everything is testing fine. So magically, my alternator repaired itself in the five mile drive, amazing!

I firmly believe that they were trying to scam me since I am a woman and would know no better. But what bothers me the most out of this whole experience is the complete lack of concern out of there service department. They were more concerned about going home on time, rather than helping a distraught customer. I will never use Valley Ford again! Nor will I ever purchase a vehicle from them again! They have lost a very loyal customer for life, and I hope people read this and find another Ford dealership to go to as well.
