Do not buy extended truck warranty from Continential Warranty. My truck broke down while pulling a trailer to the March to the Arch Horseshow 3/10/10. I luckily could get to a Ford dealership with a diesel mechanic and they diagnosed it with a bad fuel pump. The service manager called the Continential Warrancy Co. 800 number for prior repair authorization at approximately 10:30am. At about 11:30 I authorized the repair because I assumed (incorrectly) that, since fuel pumps are specifically stated as a covered repair in my policy and the dealership had called, that I would have no problem getting reimbursed from Continential Warranty. I was on my way by 1pm. I called Continential Warranty after I got home and was told to send in my original work order and a letter explaining the situation, I would be reimbursed. I have been denied by the company. I called the company today and then the Ford dealership where the work was done. The Ford service manager called the warranty co and they had a record of returning his call at 4:26pm - 6 hours after the original call. They have said I should have waited 6 hours for the authorization in order to have the repair covered.
Bad customer service. I am canceling my policy and getting a refund for about 25% of the premium that I paid.
Yes it is my fault that I had the repair done without the proper repair authorization but 6 hours? The repair would have been approved if the dealership had been able to talk to a claim person when they called at 10:30.
