Southwest Transmission
And bad repair work

I took my 1988 cougar to Southwest Transmission, Cottonwood, AZ and was told that the differential needed repairs. They did a complete rebuild ($1,200) instead of swapping out the rearend I incurred rental car fees of $220 because I had to take it back three times for either bad bearings or excessive noise and vibration problems. They claimed they could not find anything wrong the last two times I had it in. It has been seven months since the work and I have driven the car now for 12,000 miles and recently took the car on a 3,200 mile road trip. It vibrated so bad I could not look out the rearview mirror. I took it back to Southwest and they swapped out the rearend with a used rearend they just happened to have laying around, used what parts off my car were good and charged me $492 and I paid car rental fees of $80. If their work was so great the first time why do a complete replacement? It's because they knew it was bad but didn't want to fix it while the warranty was still in effect. They tried to say it was my new shocks were too tight or that the motor mounts are broken; anything but we did a bad job and we will fix it. I have always told them there was something wrong and have had other mechanics ride in the car and it was obvious to them that Southwest Transmission did not have the spider gears or ring and pinion gears set correctly. Can someone explain to me what happened to quality workmanship and honesty? I am trying to get my money back for the initial repair since it appeared I paid for crappy work but I don't believe I will get anything from them but the cold shoulder routine. There were other things that happened at their shop that I felt were very inappropriate but getting ripped off makes me the maddest!!!
