I purchased a mid grade paint job from Earl Sheib in San Diego in May upgraded the paint to a Toyota color. Paid $1370 including repair of several very minor dings for my 2002 Toyota Camry, which had oxidized paint. Was told warranty was 3 years. 13 months later cracking of the paint started on spoiler and roof of car. Did not take it in right away, since I knew I had a 3 years warranty and also wanted to see if the cracking would get worse. It did, and I took it into the shop in Sept 16 months after the job done. Was told I only had a one year warranty. Disputed it to no avail, received 800 number to complain. Only reached a message machine, have left three messages without response. I will return to the store again this week, if needed will take this company to small claims court. I read my receipt carefully and the way I think they got around from admitting the warranty is 3 years is how they broke down all the charges, so the initial charge looks low ($349) but then they added the prep work, primer, and special color to bump up the price. I would never have had my $28,000 car painted with a one year warranty, not in a million years. I will call the BBB and keep this website notified of the outcome of this. Here is a tip for future: Get the warranty written out, do not accept a print out of the work and charges without the warranty being there too.
