When I dropped my car off at Countryside Customs of Warrenville, IL, I specifically and clearly stated my car was not to be driven off the lot. It could only be driven in and out of the building. This was acknowledged and I was told it would not be driven.
To give you some background, this is a street-driven race car. It can not be treated like a regular car and this was explained to Countryside Customs before handing over the keys.
Just in case they did play with my car, I set electronics in my car to log activity and reset trip odometer A.
The day before the car is ready, they call and ask if I want an alignment. I am confused as to why I would need one, and suspect they are trying to hide miles on my car.
When I picked up my car a few weeks later, checked the odometer. It had 3 miles on it. I checked log: 25psi max boost (should not see ANY). 110 psi oil pressure (should only see 100). 200 max oil temp (should not reach temp). (FYI - On the street the car should only see 5psi of boost. 25psi means they were driving at reckless, near or above triple digit speeds on public roads)
They obviously took her for a joy ride. It is also obvious that they hit full boost WHEN COLD (due to the high oil pressure). This is very damaging to the car's engine and turbo.
I complained. I asked to speak with the owner and was told he was out several times.
The next morning on my way to work, the engine bay starts smoking. Not bad, but I smelled it. On the way home in the afternoon, it gets much worse. Turns out my AVCS line is leaking at the front attachment point. I tighten it down, clean up the spilled oil that is all over the head covers and dripping on my exhaust manifold and try again the next morning.
On my way to work she starts smoking quite a bit. I stop at the shop to show them the problem and the person there is VERY hostile with me. He claims I am lying and that I must have done this on my own. He tells me there is no way they went for a joyride and discounts my odometer and log readings. He accepts no responsibility and I leave, not feeling like being insulted anymore.
That night I fix the problem by removing the AVCS line, cleaning and reinstalling it.
I schedule an appointment to get the window molding replaced that was bent when I picked the car up. I ask for the owner to be there so we can talk. When the appointment finally comes, the owner is not in. He is obviously avoiding me. Countryside Customs of Warrenville, IL does not care that they beat on my car and have no intention of doing anything about it to make the customer happy or reimbursing me the cost fo fixing their damage.
