I bought a car from B&B Auto Brokers on Patton Ave. After the first 15 miles on the car the check engine light came on. I called them and they asked me to bring the car back for them to look at. I took the car back to find that the coolant sensor was bad in the car. They offered to fix the problem and I graciouslly accepted the offer.
Later that night I come to discover the horn did not work on the car and it also had a brake light out. The car still some how passed the inspection with these problems. So I took the car back to the lot for them to fix the coolant sensor. His mechanic took off the sensor and it shot at least a gallon and a half of coolant across the lot. He put on the new sensor and sent me on my way. Did not even think to replace the coolant or bleed the lines. I asked the dealer while I was there that he fix the problem with the horn and brake light and he refused and threw the "as is" papers up.
The same day the car started to overheat. So I took the car to my mechanic. He told me that he had to add two and a half gallons of coolant to the car and clean up the stop leak that had blown all under the hood of the car. He also pointed out the front hub being out on the car and that the wheel was about to fall off, the front rotors were in horrible shape and the brake pads were worn down to nothing. I told the dealer about these problems and again I was told "as is".
So then I contacted the DMV License and Theft bureau as I was told they are the only ones that regulate used car lots and make sure they do people right. The investigator has since handled the inspection station for passing a car that should have never been allowed on the road. The DMV can not do anything to the dealer as he claims to have no knowledge of the issues with the car.
Now two weeks after getting the car I have replaced a front hub, both front rotors, front brake pads, three coolant overflow tank caps, and a thermostat (which was not in need of being replaced, it did not even have one in the water housing in the first place).
After replacing all these parts, bleeding the coolant lines again. The problems still remain in the cooling system and now I have noticed that the head is either cracked or it has blown a head gasket! Could have possibly been the fact that his mechanic straight wired the fans and that they only work half the time or could have been that the heads were cracked or gasket blown and just concealed well enough to last for two weeks.
Regardless the car dealer thinks that he has just ripped off another pair of dumb kids, but little does he know that we will not just be screwed and walk away empty handed. He will think twice before he rips off the next people that walk on to his lot after us!!!
