They Got Me Good

Dear complaint Team,

My name is Bao * and i live in Phoenix AZ. I bought a set of wheels and tires from Phoenix Tire and Wheels Outlet less than a year ago for $1300.00. They are located at 4931 West Indian School Rd. I have had nothing but problems. First they sold me tires that starting wearing unevenly or "cupping".

I was informed to have my alignment and suspension checked to ensure that wasn't the problem. After the inspection I was informed by the Technician that my suspension and alignment were perfect and all the noise and vibrations were coming directly from the "cupping" tires. The vibration and noise from the tires got so bad I had to take my car to Sears Automotive today. This is where it gets bad.

After the "custom wheels and tires" were removed I was immediately approached by a Technician shaking his head in disbelief. He was holding my TPMS sensors which stands for "Tire Pressure Monitoring System". He explained to me that whomever installed the wheels and tires broke all of the TPMS sensors and tried to re-apply them with duct tape.

After further review by several other Technicians as well as the store manager and assistant manager, they told me they were not fixable and they couldn't believe that someone would try to tape them back on without informing me of the accident. The responsible thing to do would have been to inform me of there mistake and take responsibility for the damage they caused and replace them, that would have been fine with me, people do make mistakes.

I had to replace those 4 sensors for my 2006 Acura TL today which totaled $348.99. When I called the company and confronted them with this, they basically told me I should have brought it back to them sooner. How was I suppose to know they did this type of damage to my car to begin with? Should I have to go home and remove all 4 of my new wheels and tires right after installation and check for damage to my TPMS sensors? Thats basically what they told me.

The fact of the matter is it "shouldn't" have happened to begin with. They aren't offering me any time of replacement or refund for the damage. This company is putting its profit before the personal safety of its customers and something needs to be done about this.

So in the end I have spent over $2000 and I am right back to where I was, my factory tires are back on and I have working sensors again. I would be happy if I could just get my money refunded for the new sensors I had to purchase. I feel like I have been mistreated and taken advantage of. I cant even get an apology out of these guys nor have I been offered anything in return for the damage.

There have been two other scenarios with this company prior to this one. The day I had these wheels installed on my car, my friend went with me to buy some for his car as well. They kept pressuring him to buy the 20 inch wheels. He went there with the intentions of buying 18 inch wheels to allow a little room for his fenders. After convincing him that they would fit just fine with no problems he bought the 20 inch wheels.

After a few days he had to return back to their shop because the the wheels were scrapping the inside of his fenders so bad he was scared to drive the car, again profits before personal safety here.

My little brother also purchased a set of wheels and tires here and the very next morning when he came out to get in his car, he found that the weights that they had attached to the inside of the wheels for balancing purposes had fallen off.

In conclusion I think this company needs to be exposed for their lack of concern, countless errors and irresponsibility. If they would have handled this in a professional manner I wouldn't have to be contacting you guys. I just feel like "They got me".

Thank you for your time.
