My children's father purchased a vehicle from Marc at San Diego Sports Cars in Late March. Marc had advertised the vehicle on Ebay. Thinking this would be a legit deal because of the dealership status with a license, he decided to purchase the vehicle.
During this time he was over seas fighting for this country, and asked me to fly to San Diego and pick up this vehicle. He made arrangements with Marc from San Diego Sports Cars, and I flew down there with my two children.
The original deal was to wire Marc at San Diego Sports Cars the money for the vehicle. He had also asked Marc if he could wire him additional funds to support my road trip back to Northern California. Marc told him it was no big deal and that would be fine. They had also worked out the registration detail due to the fact that he did not know if the vehicle was going to stay in California.
In April I flew to San Diego with my two minor children. Marc had his assistant Noelle pick me up from the airport. She drove me to their new facility. The facility was filled with expensive cars. She filled out all the paperwork and had me sign some documents. Once completed, I asked her about the money that Marc was suppose to have for me. Noelle, Marc Assistant, had never heard of the money. She eventually called Marc on the telephone and he asked to speak with me. Marc from San Diego Sports cars told me that he would have to keep the money for registration because the vehicle was in California.
In approximately July of I contacted Marc and Noelle by email as I could not get through to them on the telephone. I explained to them that we had still not received the registration for the Range Rover. I received an email back from Marc from San Diego Sports Cars that stated the following:
We are still awaiting for the Title to arrive from the previous owner. The previous owner had a death in the family and has been away tending to this tragedy. Will follow up again and once we receive title, we can process registration. Very sorry for the delay
I replied to Mark that I needed documentation regarding the registration and they did not even place a temporary registration sticker in the window. Marc replied with the following:
I confirmed with the owner TITLE was sent out on Monday... Complete Registration should be done next week and will send you the Registration Plates, etc. Do you not have a Temporary Registration SLIP in the window? I was not present when the car was picked up, however, we ALWAYS print up Temporary Reg Slip and Tape to the Front Passenger window.
However this was not the case, as it is June and I still have no title and no registration. I'm in the process of filing a claim with DMV and I can no longer find San Diego Sports Cars on the web. All phones for this business have been shut off and I have no other contact information.
BEWARE when purchasing a vehicle from someone name Marc Howard or Noelle as these may be the same individuals. I assume it will only be a matter of time until they open shop somewhere else!
