I read the previous complaints on this website about this company, and I figured that they didn't follow the correct procedures. I was WRONG! I took my truck figuring I would do everything Discount Engine Exchange wanted me to do and I would have a good experience. WRONG! Just like the others, I was nickel and dimed to death. But I didn't want to be like the stories on here. I went along with all the repairs that they said needed to be done, it was DOUBLE the price that they quoted. But they assured me that they were doing a great job and I would have NO problems, it would be like a new truck once they were done with installing the rebuilt motor.
But when they were done, I had to take it to the dealership to have a new cooling fan installed. Discount Engine Exchange mechanics couldn't figure out how to make the one that was on there work properly and rigged it up the wrong way. That was my first clue that they weren't the brightest mechanics.
I went back for the $90 oil change 500 miles later where they said they would inspect the motor for any problems. I watched as the mechanic changed the oil and didn't inspect anything at all. I was good, the truck was running. But a few hundred miles later it started leaking oil in my driveway! NOOOO, I am just another person on this website that got ripped off!
I took it to another shop and they said it was leaking at several different areas but said I should take it back to Discount Engine Exchange to have them repair under warranty. I figured it should be covered for no charge, BUT IT WASN'T! They did a poor job, I was overcharged to begin with, and now they are charging me more to fix their mistakes! I was charged $4000 originally and then charged another $400 to fix the oil leak. BUT surprise surprise a few hundred miles later it's leaking AGAIN! They can't fix anything!
I reported to the BBB, where they already have a F rating. Discount Engine Exchange responds back to my complaint that they idled my truck on a lift for 3 hours and found no leaks! So that's why it's leaking AGAIN!? They charged me $400 and told me they fixed the leak but indeed just wasted my gas and stole my money. My truck will never see this shop again.
Please, DON'T go to Discount Engine Exchange!!! Don't be like me and figure you will be the lucky one, the odds are better in Vegas.
