My husband and i have been americredit customers for over a year now and this is the first time we have been this past due with our account.
3 months ago my husband was involved in a car accident which caused him to be off work while the doctor's tried alternative measures to back and neck surgery.in the meantime i was the only one working and did the very best i could with the car note but over a period of time we became 104 days past due, meanwhile i kept americredit up to par on his progress and made arrangements to pay as much as i could.
Of course, they called and harrassed my family all day everyday, even going to the extent of a rep by the name of jackie calling my daughter over and over in one night and finally ended things by calling her and getting into a yelling match with our daughter, because her parents weren't home.
The most disgusting episode was on april 30 i received several phone calls from several different people with the same questions as though i hadn't previously spoke with their whole office staff, the last man who claimed his name was "j.D. Martin", was the rudest of the americredit clan.
I asked mr. Martin how many times would they call me in one day to only hear the same thing over and over again and also explained to him that i worked in a corporate office and that we were not allowed to have extensive personal calls during working hours and went on to let him know that if he continued to call me he would cost me my job.
J.D. Told me that he could care less if i lost my job because my car note was past due and proceeded to ask me "if i send the sheriff's office out there to serve you do you think that would get you fired"? I explained to him that i was working with several finance companies to try and have my car refinanced because i just couldn't handle the constant harrassment and i truly wanted to try and have my note lowered, and asked him not to call me again that day and hung up. J.D. Called back in less than 2 minutes and started out by asking me if i thought he cared about my job, and to tell me that he would not stop calling me at work and would call everyday all day until i note was caught up and also explained that i didn't deserve to work because of that, i decided that trying to talk to this person was not about to happen and ended the conversation by simply disconnecting the call.
I called back into their 800# and asked for j.D. Martin's supervisor and was told that his manager was laura crushon and was transferred promptly to her extension where she picks up on the line very apologetic for the rude treatment and assured me that americredit did not practice business like that she also assured me that she would investigate the call with j. D martin and stated that she would personally take care of mr martin and asked how else could she help me.
I explained that i needed to try and work out something to ensure that i would not receive any more harrassing calls, i also told her that i have said from the very beginning that i couldn't take personal calls and yet they continue to call my work, i explaned that my husband was out of work and at home sitting by the phone as asked why couldn't they talk to him, she said that it was not true that they couldn't make arrangement on the account with him "mrs. Brewster he is on the account too" were her exact words. I told her that i would try and borrow the money from a family member and make a payment and she agreed that that would be ok and that i should call her back before 6:30pm to let her know.
Well, i did find someone to loan the money and called her back promptly at 5:15/no answer/left message, i called again at 5:30/no answer / left message and transferred out to the operator and requested that she page her only to learn that she always leaves at 5:00pm, yet another americredit game, oh and by the way i had to leave work 1 hour early because i was so fried from the calls and nothing on the part of cooperation was shown.
Meanwhile, my husband is at home on the phone with none other than j.D. Morgan himself trying to dish out the same abuse to him that i had received and when he realized that my husband was not going to tolerate it he told my husband that i was lying and that he was not disrespectful to me at all.
On may 01 not quite right with just sending my money and having no confirmation of arrangements i called again 9:00am/left message again for ms. Crushon called again around 10:00 and decided to talk to any so called manager i spoke with a lady that worked with me and we finally came to some feasible arrangements.
I would just like to state that i have never been talked to in this manner by any representative of a company and i just wonder what their cryteria is for hiring their staff members from the customer service people on up to the management team, but i do know that is not acceptable and i will complain, complain and complain again until something is done to assure us customer's that we do matter. I have filed a formal complaint with consumer affairs commission and i fully intend to pursue this matter further!!!
