Started working as a technician (Auto Mechanic) at Scandinavian imports from Sep, 11,06 thru Oct, 15,08. My pays started from $500 per week ($12.50/H) salary, and shortly after i got hired i got many raises. I was making $28.25 per hour commission (Over $1,130/week), doing more then 50 hours a week most of the times sometimes close to 70 hours per week. I dedicated myself to the company and worked very hard.
My hard work, led me to a better pay. I had almost no come backs and my jobs were clean and very professional, meaning i treated customers cars just like my own. I was such a good technician that i was the very first, who did a chain job, engine over haul, turbos, chain driven water pumps, electric diagnostics, on the newer Saabs and Volvos in the market. Many of my customers were so happy that after an engine over haul, she wrote to the company that her car has never been this smooth. However, being such a good employee still got me fired.
On Oct, 15 i went to hospital from work with my own car. It was then that the doctors at Shady Grove Hospital told me i have bells palsy. A nerve damage in the brain with controls most of left or right side of face (eyebrow, lips, cheek). My doctors believe it was going to be permanent since i realized it couple of days late. I took notes from doctor, for a 10 day rest for recovery. Also told my manager, that it could be permanent. After 10 days, i went back to work.
They told me i can't work, till i get a report from DMV for my driver's license history. I had 3 points in my license.
After 4 days of send me on a goose chase they told me their insurance company raised their deductible incase of an accident with a customers car during a test drive. So the company fired me due to that reason. I never had an accident with any customers car working within the company. I believe they worked out a deal with a insurance company to have me fired in a way to make it prove that it was a fault of my own. Therefor, i was receiving unemployment and they appealed it, and told the examiner a story that me look like a irresponsible person. That's why the fired me.
Also, for those who choose Scandinavian import as their mechanic shop, i recommend else where due to:
1. Their technicians are not trained.
2. Many of their technicians make mistakes, after the car is picked up, a day or 2 later the car is back with the same problem or a new problem. Most of the times i ended up fixing someone else's mistakes, or could see that a part got damage due to wrong installation or wrong after-market parts. They would still charge the customer and make an story and make a sell.
3. Sometimes they would use after-market parts, parts that wouldn't fit correctly, and had us modify it. They would still charge the customer for a original Volvo or Saab part.
4. Many times the the technicians didn't have enough experience in a particular which cause them to spend extra time. Therefore, the company charged the customers extra time. That's spouse to be learning / educational time that company is responsible for.
5. Their used cars are not as good they look. All of them are auction cars. More then P were accident cars that were fixed. Many times the owner had me do some modification or some touch ups to make it look original and accident free.
5. Scandinavian import uses cheap after market parts in their used cars in order to save money.
6. Many many many times after doing a service on their used cars, many of the bad items that were not visible or obvious for a buyer to see was not replaced. (control arm bushings, muffler, trans, engine leaks, power steering leaks.)
7. After a car was sold, the company had a 60 days 0 warranty. The customer would bring the car for a service, after the report was done. If there was no complains, the company would cross of the all the components that were bad and was cover under their warranty till their warrant was over.
As a result i warn those who use this Scandinavian import as their mechanic or car dealer. Be aware of what they sale you. Large bills and the problems are still there.
On your old receipts look up for IK, my initials, as a technician. That proves the work i've done was done right or wrong.
