I was camping in Great Sand Dunes National Park and decided to get a generator. Drove to Alamosa, Colorado (closest town to park) and bought a small generator advertised in the store isle as $99.99. When I went to check out I was told that the price was $30.00 dollars more and I would be issued a rebate by mail. At point of Sale a special receipt was printed that was to be submitted with barcode from package. I was skeptical and of course my fears were realized when I submitted all the info they required and never got a check back. I was sent something that looked like it might be a check but in reality it was a statement reading that the barcodes were not recognized as their product. Well they had scanned that barcode at the register to charge me. I called about it and was told I needed an additional receipt. (not what was in writing as to how to get the rebate)
The whole thing just seems like a scam. I am sure I was not the only person who bought the same type generator. I think the rebates are just a way to get people to buy and then the company never honors the rebate. I will never go to a checkers auto parts again!!!
Buy at your own risk!!!
