Service Department Preys On Innocent And Unsuspecting Customers

I took my truck in to have the service department install a new fuel pump. I explained to the service advisor what the problem was and expected them to fix the problem and let me know when completed.in the meantime, these guys take it upon themselves to do some sort of "inspection" on my nine year old truck without my consent. Of corse they find "problems". After all, the truck is nine years old.

Once these guys found all the "problems" with my nine year old truck they had the nerve to bypass me and call my wife at home who knows nothing about a vehicle other than how do drive it and fill it with gas.

I've never had a problem with the alignment or any suspension in all the years I've owned my truck and I do regular maintenance myself. These idiots called my wife and scared her into giving permission to replace a tie rod end. Naturally once they replace the tie rod end they have to do an alignment. Knowing full wee I need new tires they did this work anyway without explaining that once we get new tires the alignment needs to be checked again. After I got the truck back it feels like I'm driving on a vibrating piece of ice. I have to hold the steering wheel at 20 degrees to the left just to stay on the road. The idiots from Pohanka just send over some report saying it was aligned to OEM specs. Obviously they didn't test it after they "aligned" it. Over $200 wasted on the tie rod end and alignment.

Then comes the problem with the heater. Unfortunately, my wife asked them to look into a problem I've been having with my heater. The heater will blow hot air for a while before eventually turning cold. The service department said they "diagnosed" the problem as a defective actuator under the dash. They never bithered to call me and ask what the symptoms were. So they start replacing parts. Unfortunately they aren't smart enough to go put their hand on the heater core hoses to find out the system was air locked. I could have told them that but they feel like they need to start throwing new parts at something first. Bottom line is that the heater is still air locked and I paid over $100 for them to replace a part that was perfectly good to begin with.

Finally we get to the marker bulbs. I religiously change out burned out bulbs and keep a stock in my garage since GM's just love to burn out bulbs. I have serious doubts that any bulbs were burned out in the first place but that's impossible to prove now. What burns me up is they charged me $25 dollars to replace two $1.25 bulbs.

I approached the service advisor and this guy treats me like I'm some sort of idiot who doesn't know anything about my own truck like he has some sort of monopoly on car repair. The guy kept coming back at me on the phone whenever I spoke my part so I decide I'd drive by the next day and see the guy who ripped me off face to face. He knew I was mad as hell when I called him the day before so he should have expected it when I showed up. I was mad as a hornet! I told him if he was man enough to take advantage of my wife then he should be man enough to take it when the pissed off husband comes around. I probably used some choice words but they deserved it.

I filed a complaint with the BBB and got a response back from the service manager saying he would not refund the money for things they didn't repair. He said if I had a problem that maybey the warranty would cover it. I'll be damned if I will take my truck back there so they can start "finding" other problems with my nine year old truck so they can keep screwing me. So I guess it's been dropped on their end as well as the BBB.

All I can say people is when you take your vehicle to Pohanka Chevrolet you had better watch what they're doing. I guarantee you that they will call you back with a list of "safety" issues that you must have them repair and will use scare tactics to get you to let them repair the "problems". After doing some research on my own I have found several cases where they have replaced parts that weren't defective. They also have a scam of calling fleet services who own and lease out company cars and telling them there are major issues that need to be fixed. Naturally these leasing companies are not local so they have no way of disputing the claims.

I guess I would not be quite so mad if some of the extra "reapirs" they made actually worked but I will always be mad at the way they sell repairs. All I wanted was a new fuel pump and now my truck drives worse than it ever has. I am leaning towards the fact that maybe they intentionally screwed it up so I would have to come back. Never again, Pohanka!
