JAC Automotive
Poor quality workmanship, damaged parts of the transmission, incomplete repai

I contacted JAC Automotive to replace clutch and flywheel on a 1995 Mitsubishi 300gt. I explained to Andrew on the phone what was wrong with the car, that we had already purchased the parts and that we had begun to disassemble the car to do the repairs ourselves. He said no problem he could do the repair that day as he had a previous appointment cancel out and gave me a quote of $400.

He arrived about 11:30 am on August 18 and worked on the car removing the manual transmission and doing what I believed were the necessary repairs.

When reassembling the related parts Andrew and crew he brought with him had difficulty figuring out how the battery was connected and thought it was dead. It was not. Then the car would not start in the normal manner using the key.

Andrew gave up and finally got the car started by crossing the two connections on the starter motor with a screw driver and with the motor running put the transmission through the various gears to show the wheels would turn with power. (Car was still raised on a jack) He said he was done and wanted payment. Since it was not evident to me how poorly the work had been done and he was at my house with two other big guys I felt intimidated and paid him.

After extensive examination I discovered the reason the car would not start was due to the fact that Andrew or one of the 2 guys had put a wire in the wrong place when they were putting the car back together. Once I discovered where it belonged the car started properly.
But this was just the beginning of uncovering the problems that JAC Automotive had left me.

When I examined the underside of the car they had forgotten to replace 2 bolts and there was evidence that damage to the transmission housing had occured during the removal or installation. I called and spoke to Andrew and told him I was taking the car to a professional mechanic and would have them determine the extent of JAC's shoddy workmanship and send them the bill for whatever had not been done right. Andrew agreed.

Since then, we did take the car to a mechanic who had to do the entire job over again that I paid JAC to do and it has been determined that Andrew and his co-horts damaged the pressure plate during installation.
I have sent a letter and pictures to Andrew requesting a full refund ($525) but have not heard back.
Andrew's business motto is "Mobile repairs done right the first time"
Certainly not in this case.
