My wife entered a contest on KYSR (Los Angeles) a/k/a Star 98.7. She was told she won a $250 gas certificate, but to claim it, she'd have to take a test drive of a new Lincoln at Tuttle-Click Lincoln Mercury in Irvine, CA.
Even though it's an hour drive (in light traffic) from where we live, she had the day off and went.
When she got there, she got a "certificate" from freebeegas.com — a scam well documented on this site, as they REQUIRE you to pay a $5.00 registration fee THEN submit receipts in a "timely" fashion each month, essentially making it near-impossible for a reasonable person to complete the multitude of tasks necessary to get a rebate.
Oh, and THEY determine whether or not you've completed the process satisfactorily.
It's plainly obvious that freebeegas.com makes their money off of selling this program to companies such as Tuttle-Click and Star 98.7 and the $5 registration fees they collect. Then, it becomes impossible to follow their guidelines.
If Tuttle-Click and Star 98.7 were sincere in giving a $250 gas certificate, they would have just given the "winners" a gas card on the spot — it's not that hard.
My wife and to drive an hour — each way — for nothing. She DID enjoy the Lincoln she test drove and we ARE in the market for an upscale vehicle, but we've crossed the Lincoln off our list, in favor of a Lexus.
So, Tuttle-Click, and Star 98.7, I guess you've really pulled one over on us, huh?
