I request everybody in this nation DO NOT use this company for moving. I can tell you my story.
I moved from NJ to Texas
Universe express customer service rep, Stephanie gave me quotation for my 3 bed room moving for $ 2384.00. Then I call for free estimate by one of the staff member coming to my home, Mr. Ethan came and he saw what all things I have and gave me quotation for $2500.00 for 682 cu feet. But next day he called me and said it went out of my expectations your your rate will go upto $2900.00. I said OK.
The day of moving Mr. Edwin came in he said your stuff is too much and it is 882 cu feet. So you have to pay first 682 cu feet with $3.80 and remaining 200 sq. Feet you have to pay $4.80. I asked why? He said yours is a binding quote, so if you go out of OUR estimate you have to pay $1 extra.
I called Ethan on the day of moving, he said if you don't like it you can cancel now.
I had made all the arrangement to move next day to Texas so I did not have another choice. So I ended up paying whatever they said. Total bill was $3985.00. He said if you pay cash I will give you 5% discount. I agreed and I paid cash 50% that $1983.00 remaining 50% once the items reached here in Houston. He charged me $4 each for $1 cello tapes.
I gave deposit when I book the order that was $784.00
When the load reached Houston it was only 500 cu. Feet instead 882cu. Feet for what they charge me.
Univereseexpress doesn't have a big truck but they claim they have, they have to depend some other company. The driver of that company who deliver my items insisted upon me that you have to pay in cash, I was new to this city so it was so hard for me to collect $1983.00 as cash.
Ethan and Edwin had adviced the truck driver that just unload items into his room and your job is done but they are supposed to fix the dismantled items.
After two days when I saw my credit card statement i saw a charge of $ 784.00 in favour of Universe express.
Actually they charge me - 1983 1983 784= $4750.00. The actual bill should have have been for 500 cu feet is less than $2200.00 (500x 3.80 149 as packing charges 7% fuel surcharge)
When I called Ethan he said the driver collected only $1200.00 (he collected 1983.00 and signed for the same)
I mailed GM of universeexpress about my concern he said he will look my files. It was two weeks back. He is not responding to my emails now. I am planning to go to court.
Now you decide do you want go with this company!!!
