Starrs Cars & Trucks, Inc - Chuck Starr / Jason Saunders Rip off used car deale

On July 28 I was out looking at vehicles and went to a couple different dealerships, I called my dad and talked to him about it and he unfortunately told me to go to Starr's cars & Trucks Inc.in Painesville, I went and saw this car, it was a 2005 Chevy Cavalier LS Sport with only 14156 miles on it and talked to Jason Saunders (the salesman) about it, I did not look at a newspaper to even see the advertisement, as Chuck Starr said I did. Since I (I am only 18) was getting ready to attend Lakeland College and working at Walmart, I needed a vehicle, this being my first car purchase I didn't know much about what to do so I looked it over without noticing many things and the noise did not start in the front end until a couple days later (July 31st) and you would think that this car with such low miles would not have these problems or bald tires, the tires measue 1/32nd on a tread gauge (I have attached pictures of them) so I called my dad and told him about this car, I waited until my mother came home and bothered them until I talked my dad into co-signing the loan. My dad was pretty sick that day so he did not do anything but co-sign the loan. My dad and I did not go out and inspect the car and I was the only one who test drove the car that day. When I went back to purchase the car Jason Saunder's already took it upon himself to take $1300.00 off the price, I did not negotiate anything. I was happy that he did that, I thought maybe he was trying to help me out not realizing that I was getting screwed, maybe that's why Jason took that amount off the price!!! On July 31st the car started making a noise in the front end so I told my dad to drive it and he pushed on the ball joints and they were dry then he noticed that they pad slapped the brakes-the rotors are bad, he also looked at the tires and saw they were all at the wear bar, that is when he & I noticed all of the other problems. I called Starr's cars on July 31st and asked for Chuck Starr (the owner), Jason Saunders said he wasn't in and I explained all of the problems to him in which he said he would tell Chuck and he would have him call me. I called on my cell phone so I do have records of when I called., Chuck is lieing that I waited for several days, he actually did not return my call for several days, he offered to sell me 4 tires for $260.00 and did not offer to fix anything else, I said no I wanted everything repaired at his cost, since I called within 3 days of the sale I wished I would have returned the car because legally people have 3 days to back out of anything, if I would have known that Chuck and Jason were screwing me over I would have returned the car but I thought they would work things out with me. I talked to my parents about the only thing Chuck offered to do and they said if you don't hear from him with a better deal call him back, my dad contacted a state patrolmen and discussed the problem of the tires with him, we are wondering if it is legal for a dealership with "such a good reputation???" to sell a car to an inexperienced 18 year old with bald tires??? And with all the other problems, After not hearing from Chuck I called him again on August 5th of course Jason said he was not in so he took a message and I did not hear anything so my dad called him a few times and once again got no where, my mother ended up calling on August 14th very upset and talked to Jason and explained to Jason that if Chuck did not work something out we were filing complaints, jason said do you want Chuck to call Derek or you, my mother said her because they were playing run around with me so he said he would give Chuck the message, my mother was at work and could not answer her cell phone so Chuck nastily left her a message. She works until 5PM so once she got off of work she called Starrs cars & Trucks and Jason said he wasn't in but Chuck gave his cell phone number for my mom to call, Jason also told my mom that she should not call Chuck until around 6:30 PM so she did, as soon as my mom told him who she was he instantly over talked her so that he could not hear anything she had to say, she got very upset with that and told him not to do that, Chuck told my mom that I used them and that I came into the dealership "like a pro" and got Jason to take that much money off the price which as I have said that is a huge lie. Jason had taken the $1300.00 off of the loan paperwork and I didn't know until I read it, I was happy that he did that but maybe he did that because he was aware of the problems with the car. The only thing they kept saying is the car only has 14000 miles on it and I can't believe the tires are bald and all the other problems. Chuck also told my mom that the car is worth $13,000. And that since the car was a 2005 to use the manufacturers warranty to get everything fixed which the manufacturers warranty ran out on November 27, he argued with my mom for alittle while longer and then he said before I end this call I'm going to tell you that I am not fixing anything for you or him and that was it. Later that evening when my dad got home from work and my mom told him what happened and he called Chuck on his cell phone, Chuck said bring the car down here and we will work something out but my mom was not permitted to come because he said she is unreasonable so on August 18th around 7:30PM my dad and I took the car down and talked to Chuck, Chuck said that first he would have to redo my loan and add the $1300.00 back on and then he would fix everything that was wrong with the car at his discount, what kind of deal is that? Everything was okay until my dad asked him how much he paid for the car at the auction that he purchased it at and he told Chuck that he probably made $5000.00 on this deal, he immediately flipped out and said it's none of your business-this meeting is over so we left and the very next day we started filing complaints with the better business bureau. Chuck told the bbb that he offered to fix the car for the $50.00 deductible on the warranty that I purchased, he didn't even know about the deductible or anything about the sale because he was not there. My mom called The National Automotive Distribution Network about the warranty that I purchased for $1295.00 and they said that it would cost $50.00 for each unrelated problem that needed fixed which 90% of the things that need fixed are not covered, like the tires, radio, rotors, etc. And I have the contract that lists what is and isn't covered. Chuck Starr told the bbb that I work as a technician and I should have noticed all the problems, Yes, I do work at walmart changing other people's oil so I guess that makes me an oil changing technician. I can see why Chuck makes sure of the paperwork, it doesn't protect anyone but him, how many complaints in regard to the same one that I have has Chuck had against him? How many times are they going to get away with this? The complaints I read on the better business bureau in Cleveland, there are 6 other complaints as far as I could tell were about the same as mine and the customer remained unsatisified. Chuck Starr and Jason Saunders have very low customer service skills, bad sales practices and they don't care about what condition they sell his vehicles in and long as he gets people to sign his paperwork so that it protects only him, he also does not like people questioning him on anything.By reading his letter that he sent to the bbb, he seems professional, etc. But go in front of him face to face and question him, its a different story then, I do know if I end up getting into an accident due the tires being bald or due to anything else he refuses to fix, he will be contacted again. I can't believe that he says he has a good reputation, if anyone ever asks us about purchasing a car from his lot we will inform them of this whole thing. I also called right into GM and they told me to take it to him and have him GM certify it but I was told that all the problems had to be fixed first in order to certify it. I'm afraid to take it to him and have them fix it due to his attitude about the whole situation. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I would greatly appreciate it if you would do a investigating report on this, I am willing to go in front of cameras. I think Chuck Starr and Jason Saunders are going to get away with this again, the bbb closed all 6 cases with the customers remaining unsatisified, I am trying to get the bbb to get them to fix this. I think people need to beware Starrs Cars & Trucks in Painesville because maybe some other unfortunate person is going to go through this same problem and they need to be stopped. If you question Chuck Starr he will have a fit! Chuck Starr buys cars from auctions puts them on the lot and waits for innocent people to rip off. Jason Saunders the salesman does the rest of the dirty work. They have very bad customer service skills and very bad sales practices.
