I needed a vehicle. Since i do not have good credit, decided to go to Auto Master. They always display a sale on their marquee and i figured that was the best thing to do. I told the salesman i was looking at an Escape at a previous company but need something economical, i drive 60 mi to work. He took me directly to an Explorer. I know i should not have hasted into the decision, i admit that. The situation i was in, i needed to return a borrowed car from a friend who wanted it back; i did not have much money, had to have vehicle for work. I gave Auto Master the 8 references they required (we made up addresses if i did not know them). It was 2 days before payday. He said, "Do you have a checking acct?" "yes" "No problem, you need a car today. I will hold your check until Friday, you have my word"... Well, his word was no good... They ran the check that day, hit my bank Thursday. My bank covered it, but cost me returned chk fee.
That should've been my second sign (the first sign was if i didn't have the money in hand, i shouldn't have even gone shopping!)... I called him about it, all he said was sorry.
Bottom line, i am struggling with the wkly payment of $95 plus a gas hog! Plus having to come up with money for the tags. Auto Master is charging almost 17% interest and definately doubled the price of the vehicle! I just want anyone to beware of these situations and keep your head above water!
