As Antioch has reported, I reviewed his complaint and have had the extact same experience.
In 2007 the right front wheel of my van overheated due to the brake caliper not retracting causing the brake pads to heat up and burn.
I then took it into BrakeMax on Silverbell Rd. And after inspection, was told that the entire front brakes needed to be replaced at a tune of over $800.00. That if I did not take the action to replace both rotors, calipers and brake pads, I ran the risk of having brake failure.
Therefore I agreed to have the work done.
In May of this year there was a grinding noise coming from the right front brake, I happened to be in Tucson, I currently live in California, so I took the vehicle back to the same BrakeMax shop. After inspection, I was told that "there was rust in the caliper and that I must live close to the ocean for that to happen." I told the manager that I lived 30 miles inland and no way could the fact that I lived in California cause the problem.
Bottom line! BrakeMax replaced the Caliper. I was not charged for the part but DID HAVE TO PAY SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF $250.00 FOR LABOR.
After reading Antioch's complaint, I wonder if I even had ANY OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS REPLACED. IF SO, WHY THE FAILURE AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME? I may add that the van ONLY gets used for trips to Tucson approx 3 times a year...
