Excuses for poor ability!

Well I am obviously very dipleased with the service that I received at this location other wise I wouldn't take the time to create an account at this site and make a ripoff complaint. I write this in the hopes of saving others the great misfourtune that I received.

About a month ago I was backed into in a parking lot. The damage wasn't to bad to my 1995 Z28 Camaro. The Driver side rear quarter panel, my rim, the bumper, and the door was damaged.

I contacted my Insurance company, and filed my claim. They offered to give me a check and let me take the car where ever I wanted, or I could take it to a USAA approved shop which would gaurentee satisfaction. Of course I took the second option, oblivious to what the next month would hold instore.

My Wife and I got our rental car and dropped our car off at the only USAA approved shop in town Dependable Paint and Body. They told us the repairs would be done by the first of June.

My Wife received a call from the shop on the 5th of June saying the car was ready for pickup. We were so glad that we would be back in my car. When we arrived at the shop and seen the car, our moods quickly changed.

The repairs were done completly wrong. The shop had obvioulsy not paid attention to what they were doing. The driver side quarter panel normally has a crease going through it to match the crease of the bottom of the door. The Shop had filled the crease in, so it looked as if there never was one.

The Rim still had scratches and chips in.inbetween the tire and rim, there were still silver paint chips from when the car had hit me. There were scratches on the rear bumper that had not even been touched, and My car was now two toned.

The shop did not blend the paint like they said the would and could. The left side of the car received a new paint job while the rest of the car had a normal fade from age.

When I brought these obvious issues up to the case manager, he gave me an additude I did not expect. He said the Damage to the Rim was something I must have done sometime before the accident.

The damage to the rim was exactly where there was a piece of the other car's bumper lodged inbetween the tire and rim. When I showed him the paint chips from the other car in the exact same location he immediatly blamed a shop that they sent it off to, and said he would send it back.

I then brought up the issue of the quarter panel crease being filled in. He didn't even notice anything wrong with it till I showed him the other side of the car, and how it was suppose to look. He said he would get it fixed, all the while showing disrespectful looks, letting me know I was a serious inconvienence.

I then opened the door to make sure they had repaired the damage to the inside of the door, and noticed the electric controls for the window were popping out of the door, when I asked him about it, He said I just had to push it back in. I tried it three times with him standing there, each time it popping right back out.

I mentioned the scratches to the bumper, and asked why they had not done anything to it, and he said it was not part of the accident. When it obviously was. At that point My wife called the insurance company to see if they could send someone out, they agreed and said they would see us I belive it was friday.

When I came in on friday the adjuster was already there. When we went to go look at the car, they had already attempted to fix some of the damage they had done. They did a poor attempt at making a crease on the quarter panel.

I pointed out the failed attempt the adjuster looked at it and agreed with me, that it needed to be fixed. They attempted to fix the rim, and I commend them on almost getting it right.

There was still obvious damage to the rim, when I mentioned it, the shop said they would have to send it out, and it would take another 8-12 weeks to get it back. Knowing that we are moving to Florida in less then a month.

They had fixed the electric controls on the inside of the door. They were now in place. The scratches on the bumper were not fixed however, and the case manager tried to convince the adjuster that the scratches were not from the accident at that point. The Adjuster said he could see the scratches happeneing from the accident and told them to fix it.

I then mentioned the fact that my car was now two toned. The car obviously had been painted on the left side of the car, and the rest of the car was obviously not the same, and how they said the could blend it and make it the same. The adjuster said there was nothing they could, they had done there best to blend the paint, and how I am now stuck with the obvious diffrence.

Our meeting was done. The adjuster had mentioned the things they needed to change. The crease on the quarter panel, the scratches on the bumper, and the Rim.

Before I left I made sure to bring up how they had tried to give us the car the first time. The Case manager attempted to blame enterprise for calling us telling us the car was ready, when it wasn't done, assuming we had an enterprise car, cause they work with enterprise. We had a Hertz car so obviously enterprise would not call us.

After hearing it would take 8-12 weeks to get the rim back we agreed to take a settlement from the insurance company so we could move to florida and get it fixed there.

Later that week my wife called to see how the repairs were going. The Shop said we would be very pleased. My Wife then asked about the quarter panel. The Shop then said that the adjuster didn't say anything about it and they were not going to fix it.

My wife then called the insurance company to complain. The insurance company called the shop and the shop said that he had not had that conversation with my wife, and said they had already started work on the quarter panel, and it would be done on Tuesday the 17th of June.

We recieved a call late Thursday saying the car was ready for pickup. We told them we would not be able to come till the next mourning.

When we arrived on Friday the 20th of June they had to jump start the car in order to bring it around for us to look at it. When it came around I looked at the things we had requested be fixed. The Quarter panel still had not been fixed.in fact it looked exactly the same as the last time I had looked at it.

They had obviously worked on the bumper the scratches were gone, but there were marks that looked like smudges stuck there I tried to wipe them away and they wouldn't come off.

I asked them about the quarterpanel and they said there was nothing they could do. There was steel in that area, and it was stuck like that. I asked them why the other side didn't look like that then, and they said it must have been a defect due to mass production. Then said they thought it looked better then the side that was not damaged.

If you were to look at the side that they repaired., there were obvious issues with how they tried to repair it. If you looked in the crease there are dips, and creases all over the place. It looked like someone stuck bondo in there then took a saw made a crease real quick then took a paint brush and gobbed some paint in there.

My wife then told me look at the car and make sure everything was there, that we were going to try and take it somewhere else. I looked at my speakers and amps that I had installed in the back with a custom box. Someone had lifted up the box unplugged them, and shoved my jumper cables back there. The lug key for my rims is also missing.

As I was checking for everything and finding this stuff, my wife was on the phone with the insurance company who had the case manager on 3 way. As my wife brought up the crease and how they were trying to give it back to us, he was blaming it on the paint. And how somehow while the paint was drying it filled in the crease perfectly, and made it flush somehow. Weird how they didn't use the same enterprise story this time. Anyways they had an excuse for everything, that went wrong with the repairs.

After finding everything wrong and telling the insurance provider, I went inside to pay the amount owed and to take the car to a diffrent shop. After paying them the deductable, the owner of the shop came out pointing his finger in my wifes face, and told us to get out of his parking lot, and he wasn't going to tolerate us anymore.

My Wife and I are polite people. We do not yell or cuss at people. We told them there mistakes, and expected nothing but them to fix the mistakes they made. They obviously refused to do so, and we left there very unhappy with the service we received. I would suggest USAA drop them as ther paint and body repair provider if the expect to have happy customers.

This was by far the worst experince I have ever had with any type of shop providing any type of service. I would also like to make special mention of there receptionist, who likes to provide customers with her personal opinions, and point and laugh at customers as they are standing outside looking at her when she is oblivious to that fact.
