Lets start at the beginning, we took our car to Pep Boys to have the brakes fixed. This was last year. They claimed they fixed them but when I went to drive the car, the same thing it was doing before. That sound the brakes make when you step on them and it wont stop until you let off the brake. You would think I would have learned from that experince and not gone back.
But this year June 08 we took our the car back to Pep Boys to have the a/c checked to see why it wasn't working. It would blow hot air only. The mechanic performed the necessary check to see what the problem was, he came back and said the drier needed to be replaced and also a schrader valve. To evacuate the freon and then put it back in and add some it would all cost a total of $350.00. I gave him the green light. When the mechanic was finished he said "YOU HAVE COLD AIR NOW"..
I got in the car drove away and sure enough I had cold air! BUT only for 45 minutes. All of a sudden not even an hour later it starts blowing HOT air just like before he fixed it.
I took the car back to Pep Boys the next day. The mechanic checked it again. This time he comes back and says its going to need a compressor to the tune of $400.00. I asked why he hadnt checked the compressor yesterday or when he did the performance check why didn't it come up that the compressor was going to go bad within 45 minutes of him fixing it.
I talked to the manager JOAQUIN BANDA and he explained that it wasn't their fault. He also said if the mechanic would have told me that the compressor would go out soon then that would be bad business.in other words they wouldn't have ripped me off of $350.00. I asked JOAQUIN BANDA to give me his supervisors name. He informed me that he was the manager and that there was no one over him. That he answered to no one. Now unless he was the CEO of the company or the owner we all have someone we answer to. He flatly refused but easily enough it was easy to find online.
I also want to mention that a relative took their car in to have brakes fixed and again they never were fixed properly. So I am wondering if they require certified mechanics?
In any case I asked Banda if he could at least give some of the money back and he flatly refused. All he would say its not their fault and if you rebut with anything they say "it's your opinion"..
I just want to warn people out there about PEP BOYS and the experience I had with them. I have written to the corporate office. I will wait to see if I even get a response. I doubt it but lets give them a chance to rectify the situation.
