In early 2006 my wife and I moved from Tucson to Sacramento.
Shortly after moving there I noticed that the mileage on both of our cars had dropped noticeably, from 20 mpg down to 18. Well, they are old cars (88 Trooper, 93 Caravan) so maybe it was the cars wearing out. Even a valve job on the Trooper did nothing to restore its mileage.
In early 2008 we moved back to Arizona. Suddenly both cars were back to just above 20 mpg again! The only thing that changed was the gas.
So not only is California gas the most expensive, you need ten percent more of it. The Golden State is truely the land of fruits and nuts.
