Phone Theft

We have had a severe medical problem that has effected our finances. My husband is in Stage 5 renal failure. We have not fallen behind, but have had to make reduced payments to CitiAuto. This all took place out of our home state.

While we were gone, our daughter received a phone call. She looked at the caller ID and it was her own phone number! She answered it and someone asked her if this was a cell phone. She misunderstood and thought they had found one of her cell phones.

She tried to get out of them who they were, but they just kept asking if this was a cell. She finally figured out what they wanted and she said no. Then when she ask who they were, they said they were CitiAutoFinance and were trying to locate us. She said we didn't live there and they promptly hung up.

Now first question is—how did they get her number to come up on her caller ID. Isn't that fraud, using someone elses phone number to try and locate someone? This scared her to peices that they could actually get her phone number, use it to their purpose and think nothing of it. I know this has to be against the law.
Anyone out there want to help me out? We are currently paying 18.99% on this loan and I have asked many times to have it reduced. They won't do anything to help us. Our payments on a 2000 Yukon are 476.33. We are both on Social Security Disablity, so they are really taking us to the cleaners and scaring my family along the way.
