West Coast Car Company
Sport delivery scam

On 2-15-08 Salesman T.J. Was at my store getting an oil change at my shop. He told me I should come in and give them a chance. I showed up, and another salesman was helping me, he told me that they had some trucks on their lot on Cole, and Franklin. I was driven to their lot on Franklin and Cole in a VW that was grinding metal to metal. I had a bad feeling about their cars, then I test drove a 2004 F-250, and the Turbo went out as I was driving it, I told them it was not sounding right they told me it was going to get fixed. I find it amazing how the truck is at their fairview lot, and still not fixed. I feel bad for the poor customer that trusts West Coast Car Company, buys the truck probably for too much money, and then has to spend 3,000 dollars for a new Turbo.

We drove it back to the Fairview lot, and they showed me a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. I filled out the credit application, and told them I would go home and think about it. I receive a phone call on Saturday 2-16-08 and was told that I was approved by two banks for the rate that i wanted. They asked me if I would purchase the truck if They could make the monthly payments and interest rate where I wanted it to be. I said yes.

The truck was about 1500 dollars more than I should have offered to paid, but realizing all of the hard work and phone calls to the bank asking for "a favor", to drop the interest rate 1% to make the payments where they needed to be, I figured the salesperson had earned my business.

I Sign all of the Contracts, give them 500.00 down, finish all of the paperwork, and Traded my 2002 Toyota Tundra with them, and asked them to please pay the truck off quickly because the Truck payment was due on 2-23-08, they said it would be paid by 2-18-08.

I was happy with my truck, Spent about $1,800 dollars installing a lift, installing fog light kit, cold air intake, etc. On 2-23-08. I Canceled my insurance on the old truck, I registered it, insured it, named it, then I get a phone call telling me the bank denied the loan. This is Spot Delivery Scamming.

I have purchased many vehicles, and never thought this would happen to me. I am very trusting, and I guess they saw that. DO NOT TRUST WEST COAST AUTO COMPANY! One thing I have learned while doing research online, is this is very common, and one of the top ten scams that car dealerships do.

Car dealerships place consumers in a car on the spot, to get the sale, only to yo-yo them back at a later date for additional funds. Played to perfection, a dealer can reap thousands of dollars in unearned fraudulent gain. I would like to give credit to T.J. He has shown sympathy for me, as he watches his managers, and finance guys play this game. We will find out Monday what the outcome is.
