My 2003 Ford Escape recently broke down. After getting quotes from various shops, that all gave the same range for a transmission rebuild, I decided on AAMCO.
The original quote was $1550 - $2000. This was $1500 less then what the Ford dealer was going to charge for a new transmission. Once AAMCO received my vehicle the lies came.
I unfortunatley was smart enough not to let the dealer rip me off, but since AAMCO gave the same quotes as the other shops I assumed (my mistake) that they were honest.
Tom, the service manager, called to inform me that once the transmission had been removed they found other damage that could be not be seen. I believed what they told me, and he assured me that I would be able to see my damaged parts.
When my car was finally ready, the bill was a huge $3848 - and my damaged parts are no where to be found.
This AAMCO completely took advantage of my lack of knowledge, and should be held accountable for this. I have no problem paying the $ however this is insane, and I am having another shop look it over to ensure that all the "new" parts are truly new. I'm sure they will not be!!!
