Customer service does not exist after you drive off the lot

We bought a truck at Tempe Honda on August 5th. Today is August 9th. We purchased the truck through Mike Stanley in the internet sales division. I found his add on Craigslist and decided to give him a try. Mike was very helpful and nice, the sales process was great as per this quote from their website, "Our goal is to be your car company for life and we will make your car buying experience better than you ever thought it could be." Unfortunately after we signed the papers, all the helpfulness and customer service faded away. Three days later my husband drove to Palm Springs to do some work, he is in the pool industry. The truck was guzzling the gas down only getting about 8-9 mpg on the Hwy. Spending twice as much for gas. Obviously there was something seriously wrong. He also noticed that the RPM gage was acting bizarre. The alarm started going off while going down the road, and also while it was sitting still for no apparent reason.
I contacted Mike our salesman right away. He said he had never heard of this happening before and gave me the name of Ladell Player to contact about the problem. Next day, my husband talked to about four of five people and was shuffled all around. Everyone just blew him off and told him that the soonest he could get the truck into for repair was Monday, three days away. This is a brand new truck. He needs this truck in order to work and make money. How can you make money when you are spending all the money you made that day on gas? They were willing to lend him a civic and that was all they would do for him. You can not do the type of work he does out of a civic. He was very upset at this point because no one seemed to care and had such poor customer service skills. He then said that he just wanted to exchange the truck for another truck, since this truck is defective from the factory. We have never had a problem with any new vehicle we have bought, right after we purchased it. They responded that there was no way, we signed a contract and that the truck was ours period.
Mike called me back tonight and told me just to be at the dealership at 7am tomorrow when the service department opens and demand answers. That is what I will do and I will give an update. Until then, be very very careful. I would suggest that you get in writing a promise they will give you a refund or exchange a vehicle that obviously has problems from the factory so soon after delivery of vehicle. Perhaps a 3-5 day refund or exchange policy. Because like someone from the service department implied today, once you sign the papers, it's yours... You own it and it's problems... Too bad... Sorry for the major inconvenience. If they are unwilling to stand by their vehicles, don't buy it! Run out of there and go somewhere else. I guess they don't really want to be our car company for life. I wonder if they would treat a relative of Roger Penske this way, or one of his race car drivers? I doubt it very seriously.
