I've been looking for a nearby detailer and car wash that I could visit on a regular basis. Well just yesterday I received a package from OurTownAmerica, which tries to familiarize new neighbors with businesses around the are they live in. There just so happened to be a Gift Certificate in there for a car wash addressed to me reading "Our Welcoming Gift To the Martinez's", I thought it would be a great idea to try them out since I was already in the process of looking for a new nearby detailer.
I call early morning and ask what their hours are. I then plan my day around this so I can stop on by on my way home. Just as I pull in I smile at the clerk and mention that this is the first time I've been there and that I would like to try them out using the coupon. The clerk almost immediately tells me that the coupon is expired.
Well, being that I received the coupon in the mail the day prior I immediately get confused and start to wonder what was going on. So I excuse myself from the clerk and apologize to him that I was unaware of the expiration date (the only expiration clause on the GIFT CERTIFICATE read "OFFER EXPIRES IN 90 DAYS") and that I had just received it the day before. I drive home and decide to call the owner to ask him about this.
I contact Fadi Zaya (the owner) and kindly try to explain to him what just happened to me, he immediately cuts me off and tells me that the coupon expired FEBRUARY of this year, I tell him what the whole cause of my trip was there (to find a new Car Wash Detailer) and that I just received the certificate in the mail the day prior and was unaware of the expiration date due to the fact that it never stated an actual date on the certificate other than the clause mentioned above. He accuses me of just wanting a FREE CAR WASH, this of course immediately offends me greatly, I then try to explain to him that this was just the way I was going to try them out since they are located much closer to me than my usual detail shop. He does not let me finish talking and rudely hangs up on me barking out a "smart" remark.
Well this was not a very pleasant experience and I would never go back to them, nor would I recommend them to anyone. Just knowing how rude the owner and the employees are has given me quite a clear impression of the work they will be doing to any detail job performed at their shop. I will drive the extra mile, heck even 20 miles, to go to a detail center that I know treats their customers just as good as they do their customer's cars.
