I purchased a car from Tyson's Ford via "ebay". I have never done this before, but I figured this was a large dealership that would stand behind their merchandise.
The car that I placed a bid on was a 1995 Mercedes C220. I knew the car was old and had some mileage, but I felt comfortable due to the wonderful description of the car. I knew Mercedes were an excellent car and thought this would be a safe nice car for my teenager as a first car.
I paid immediately after winning the auction. The cost was $4.050.00, then I paid $850 to have the car shipped to Arizona, once again thinking this car was "like-new". When the car arrived, every light on the dash was on, the stereo didn't work, the sun roof didn't work, there was no temporary tag, keyless entry or manuals as stated in the auction. I barely got the car back to my home. When I contacted the salesman "Chris" he said no problem, take the car to a Mercedes dealership and we will take care of it. The Mercedes dealership called me back 2 days later stating the car needed $5,200 worth of repairs and the tires had the worse case of dry rot they had ever seen and that my bill for them looking at the car was $330.00.
I contacted Tyson's Ford again and heard "the check is in the mail". Chris said that they would refund my entire purchase amount and pay the Mercedes dealership. I have had this car for over 2 months now and not a penny. It took 3 weeks just to get in touch with the Manager "Dale Balderson". Finally after a heated confrontation today he said that it was my fault that I bought a "junker". I explained that the ad said "like-new", I was told what do you expect? He was willing to refund my money only on the car, but I had to pay to ship the car back with the title and then he would refund my money only if I hadn't wrecked the car. It is hard for me to wreck a car that has been in the shop for a month! The new car manager at Tyson's Ford stated "I needed to have my head check" for buying the car on ebay, that would be "Hoyt" if anyone is interested in buying a car from him. I was told that I had been bothering them at the dealership and no one wanted to talk to me. Well excuse me for being upset, especially after trying to get in touch with the Manager for 3 weeks!
Now I am out a total of $5,230.00. The General Manager referred to this car as a "junker" but the ad stated "Like-new". The engine in this Mercedes runs like new and the automatic transmission shifts great. The car has a new Virginia Inspection and should pass in any state.
The black exterior is very nice with no major dings or dents. The car has a few minor scratches as all black cars do. It has the nice Alloy wheels and great tires that have about 65% tread life left.
The tan leather interior is beautiful and has only minor wear. The car has woodgrain trim, dual airbags, all power options including sunroof and the original books and manuals, as well as remote keyless entry.

As you can see, it only states that there may be extra scratches on the car. Tyson's Ford is stated that all of this damage was done when shipping this vehicle. The Mercedes dealership stated that these kinds of problems are not caused by transit.
I should not not lose this kind of money because I put my trust into what I thought was a reputable company. There are many dealers who sell on ebay. I purchased a different car for my daughter and it was perfect and couldn't ask for a better seller. Now I am being made fun of by Tyson's Ford for purchasing this car. I am a Mother of 2 children, one of which is ill and my family should not have to suffer this loss due to the shady practices of Tyson's Ford! Everyone, please be aware of their selling practices!
