Paragon Honda Of Woodside
Unsatisfactory rating with better business bureau - and now i know why! - do not shop with them

I recently bought a car from Paragon Honda on the 5th March. I chose Honda as I have been after a loyal Honda customer for many years. I would have to say this is the worst experience I have ever had with any company.

All I have had with the car are problems from the very beginning. The history of problems / in consistency in service is listed below:

1. When I purchased the car I signed the documents and paragon honda. I requested a copy then. But was told as it was late that this was to be sent to me. 10 phone calls and one month later I received the documents.in between often my calls were not returned for days.

2. When I picked up my car It was unknown to me that i was not given all the paperwork necessary to make the car legal to drive. It was only after coming back to the dealership 2 days that they gave me all correct paperwork.

3. Paragon honda did not provide me with a maintenance journal. This was supposed to be supplied for cars 2004 onwards. When I asked for one I was told they didnt make it for my car. My car is a Honda Civic 2004 model. I dont believe this to be correct. According to the 150 point inspection for certified cars this should have been supplied.

4. Paragon Honda was to help me obtain my car registration. I supplied multiple forms of ID and even after that was told that the DMV could not accept it and issue my car registration. When I tried to find a way to resolve it myself their Paragon honda staff were not helpful and unknowledgeable about the process of registering the car. And instead of helping me told gave me excuses / reasons / obstacles for why I couldnt register it myself. It took for me to contact Honda Financial Services to explain my situation and ask for assistance that Paragon honda cooperated and sent the DMV the paperwork needed to be able to register the car. When I went into the DMV myself to register it was straight forward and I was told by DMV that they could not understand how with all the identification the dealership had a problem.

5. My car registration was not handled in a timely manner by Paragon Honda. It took so long that the interim new car purchase registeration had expired before the car could be properly registered. At one point a policeman noticed this and promptly escorted me back to my home. I had to take some time off work to go register my car myself as I did not want to drive an unregistered car and could not get to work.

6. After registering it - I took the car to have it inspected and the car was failed. One of the reasons was that both brake lights were not working. Not one brake light but both stopped working simultaneously. Very unusual for a car which was supposed to have passed a 150 point inspection less then two months after purchase.

7. The trunk lid not closing properly. I had this inspected by another honda dealer. The cause of this was deemed by another due to my "certified" car being in an accident. Evidence of it being in an accident was clear the trunk did not close properly. Also, there was tape over the trunk light and evidence it had been repainted. How could this have been missed by the 150 inspection that was supposed to be done. It makes me question what else was missed / overlooked if something so obvious was missed.

8. After first speaking to my sales person I was told that the sales manager wanted me to come into the dealership on the weekend to discuss the trunk issue. When I arrived i was told no knew of this apart from my sales person. I spoke to Sean and Caesar. I told me there was nothing they could do for me. They said they would speak to Brian Benstock the owner and get back to me. Three weeks later I still have not heard back from anyone. I have made several calls - none of which have been returned.

9. I now have a flat tire. I i took it to another honda dealer. They have told me this is which due to the tires being worn. Worn a certified Honda tire worn less then 3 months after purchasing the car.

This is a top line of all the things which have gone wrong since I purchased this car. I can give more detailed accounts and witness statements.

It is unfortunate as I have been a loyal Honda customer for many years and this whole experience has left a very sour taste in my mouth.

Especially being sold a car which is supposed to be Certified and passed a 150 point inspection yet has been in an accident, the trunk lid does not close properly (how could this have been missed) when the car was inspected, both brake lights failing at the same time, and now worn tires.

So those who are thinking of buying a certified used car beware...!!! After my experience i looked online and this dealer has an unsatisfactory rating with the better business bureau.

I have emailed them to seek assistance to resolve the problem. I will keep everyone informed of any new developments.
