Blatant theft of $1280.00 from customer, falsified documents, liars ripoff

I had an engine in a Honda Prelude that had seized up due to a gasket leak. Apparent by the steam in the exhaust as well.

I went to BAP import auto on 27th. Ave.in Phoenix to purchase a new factory engine.

The sales rep matched the year and vin# and ordered the engine from his catalog.

I paid roughly $2000.00 for a new factory motor. It had to be shipped from California to Arizona which took about 2 weeks.

When the engine arrived I noticed right away that it was the wrong engine configuration. No big deal. A simple mistake.

The same sales rep. Then re-ordered the "correct" engine from California. This took another 2 weeks.

There was a price difference so we settled the balance on the new figure which was still in the $2000.00 range.

When the second engine arrived in Arizona it was also the wrong engine configuration.

The same sales rep said he could not get that particular engine and if I liked he could rebuild the one I had using the store's machine shop in the back lot.

At that point I had been driving a rental vehicle for a month and needed the engine a.S.A.P. He told me if I brought the engine in he could have it rebuilt in 3 days.

I decided to go ahead with it.

We then made another transaction as this route would be less expensive. $1280.00.

I rented an engine hoist and removed the engine and brought it in the next day.

3 days later the same rep said that the engine was ready to be picked up. Great.

It looked new. Fresh black paint. It was in a large plastic bag with a tag on it.

When I got the engine home I decided to set the distributor and timing first while on the engine stand.

I put a heavy duty wrench on the crank pulley and could not turn it at all with full body weight, (180lbs.). Even with the spark plugs removed I still couldnt budged the crankshaft. I knew there was something wrong.

I decided to pull the head off.

After I pulled the valve cover it was evident that it hadnt been opened sinced it seized up as the gasket was deteriorated.

When I pulled the head off it was very evident when I noticed two cylinders full of radiator fluid and the same blown head gasket and the pitted, burnt, heavy carbon deposits on the valves.

It had never been opened. Absolutely nothing had been done.

I was furious to say the least and threw a hammer into the block wall of my garage leaving a gaping hole in the wall.

Here is what BAP did.

Since it was their mistake for having ordered the WRONG engine TWICE the sales rep decided they were not going to foot the bill for the cost of shipping those engines back and forth 4 TIMES from California to Arizona.

So, They took my engine and pressure washed it then spray painted it black and sold it back to me for $1280.00 and never so much as did ANYTHING else than that.

From the outside the engine looked new. It was only paint.

BAP stoled $1280.00 from me. Falsified the sales invoice of work that never occured and lied verbally to me.

They left me in such a position that I had no choice but to return the rental vehicle, completely scrap my vehicle and buy a new vehicle.

I suppose you also lied to the I.R.S. About the business income. After all no labor occured. No parts were used.

That is complete fraud and deception.

I will warn anyone in the public that reads this.

Dont ever buy an engine through BAP import auto and NEVER, EVER let them rebuild anything for you.

No one should ever go through that amount of financial loss for NOTHING and 5 weeks of aggrivation in dealing with these theiving, fraudulent crooks.
