Put alternator belt on so tight it ruined the bearing in my alternator ripoff

Had my belts replaced prior to a trip to Oklahoma City, OK.

When I got to my destination in Oklahoma City I noticed a squealing sound from under my hood like a loose belt. What I found was was an alternator belt so tight I could not move it. This apparently caused undo stress on the alternator pulley and caused excessive stress on the alternator shaft/bearing. It was fine before the belts were replaced and it didn't do it after replacing the alternator.

P.S. This was done several years ago but I still think about it when I work on my car.
