I made reservations on Sun Dec 10 for a 24' truck for 24 hours. My reservation number is 22248339, the pickup date was: 12/15. The reservations sent me through to the Owen Dr office, there they do not accept cash, so I thought fine, I'll go to the U-haul store on Bragg Blvd. I made it there by 10:45.By the time it was my turn to talk to a representative, it was 1:30pm. Cora the Asst. Manager had to download my reservation. It took about another hour and a half. Then she told me that she could not give me a 24' truck, but a 17' truck. It was also not for 24 hours it was till 9:00 am the next morning. I thought well, fine, it will have to do, I'll just have to make more trips.
My husband and I started moving around 3:00pm that afternoon. It took us till 3:00 am. At about that time, we were going to take the U-haul truck back so we wouldn't have to wake up early to take it back to the store. When we tried to start it up, the battery died. I then went to the gas station to call 1-800-GO-UHAUL and they told me that they would send someone about 9:00 or 9:30 in the morning.By 10:00am Sat Dec 15, no one had come to fix the truck yet, so I went to the gas station again to call 1-800-GO-UHAUL, then they had told me that they would send someone shortly. They came at approximatley at 12:30pm.By 1:00pm my husband and I took the truck back. When we entered the store on Bragg Blvd, Cora the Asst. Manager and Tanessa and representative said "You owe us $50.00 for every hour after 9:00am that you were late." I told them that we had called and the only phone call that was annotated was the one around 10:00am. Then after all this, they tried to make us pay for fuel when we had just put some in the truck. When I picked it up, it was at 3/4. They tried telling us that it was at 7/8. There is a booklet that was given to me marked at 3/4, and a print out that was highlighted as full. I walked out of the store because I was just getting mad at being blamed for breaking the truck, and using all the fuel, and trying to get more money out of us, than the $100 I had deposited on the truck. This definitley not customer service. Cora and Tanessa were being very rude, and not only on Friday and Saturday, but from what I hear, it happens very often.
I would like to get my deposit back for the truck and an apology. Not only that, I believe that Cora and Tanessa should lose their jobs for treating people so badly. Not only was I using their service, but I am also in the military. I should recieve some sort of respect for being human, and also because I risk my life for their when I go to Iraq.
