My husband drove for western express for a year and a half, out of tennesee, but they were loosing all their kansas accts. So Joe thought he was going to go local with knight transportation, but after he left western, the thing with knight didn't go through, so joe went for oriantation with another company in texas, but after oriantation, they decided because he couldn't life 150 pounds they sent him home, so spirit express promised, a sign on bonus and all sorts of other crap. Joe went to work for them, he did one run, and the truck broke down, sohe took it back to denver for repair, something that should of taken 2 days took 7, and they didn't let him sleepin the truck while it was in the shop, so theyput him in a motel, knowing we life 550 miles away in osage city kansas, treating him like a local driver, having him do local work as his truck was in being serviced, after denying they promised a sign on bonus, and promising insurance after 30 days, we thought ok we can deal with this but on payday, he didn't get paid, and they acted like they were doing me a favor giving me a $200.00 T check, claiming Joe didn't fill out the proper paper work to get paid. As if that wasn't enough, 30 days came and went and NO pay stub what so ever. Then they told him he had to waite 90 days for insurance. He had back surgery in 04 and so he has a weight restriction on him and they knew it, they had all his medical records. So they put him under a load, with 11 stops in chicago, self unloading 80 pound house doors byhimself, knowing it would of puthim in a wheel chair, for 3 days he begged for them to take the load off of him, he even tried to get other drivers to take it off of him when it was useless, he gave them back the truck. And had his sister come get him.
He called western express and they said they would put him back to work, they put him on the bus back to tennessee, he did oriantation, come pay day no final check from spirit so I called them, they said that scince he quit on them, they quit on him and held right not to calculate his last pay check, I called wage and labor in denver they told me it was a federal issue scince it involves over the road drivers, and the federal wage and labor told me it involves state and is not their problem, then I got his pay stub, they charged him $500.00 for refusing the load, they charged him $75.00 for detailing the truck and they charged him $40.00 for missing lug nuts that were never there. And claim he owes them $68.00 still for hauling their freight, when Joe got done with oriantation at western express, they put him on the bus home and I have to go get him in the morning, they wouldn't tell him why, orgive legit reason, but I believe spirit express has gotten him black balled from trucking. And everyone tells me it's not there problem, another thing with this company is they promise and contract to pay. 34 cents per mile, but they really only pay. 23 cents per mile, and fix their pay stubs. To cover up the fact they are evading the irs on taxes, what it boils down to is they have been in business for 9 years with 150 trucks, just in the 6 weeks joe drove for them they evaded over 2 grand in taxes now if ya take that and figure in for a year and the 150 trucks they have so far evaded taxes of over 40 million dollors, so they can totaly treat drivers like crap.
These companies are what gives the trucking company in general in the US bad reps for being employers who want everything for nothing, they get a way with it, because nobody wants to do their job at making sure in America everything gets done the old fashioned american way, an honest days work for an honest days pay, I am disabled, not brain dead, because I trusted he would at least get him last pay check I dared write checks to pay my bills, so now I get to pay bank charges, I pay for there cheating ways, and they should pay for what they have done, 3 weeks ago they accused him of causing 2 other drivers to leave them but the next week, there they were still driving for spirit and they even docked him pay for it. So I still got to pay. As I said, I am disabled not brain dead. Can't somebody do something to make them remove their lies and black balled my husband???
