Ripoff dishonest deceitful auto deale

I purchased a used car from Hays Mitsubishi. At the time they seemed like a friendly helpful sales team. Well I bought my car late at night and was told that I could just come back later to get the stuff out of my old car. They said the car would be locked up in the back and locked by a fence behind the building.

I came back a couple of days later when I had the title to my old car to give them. (I didn't come back right away because it was a long trip from my house) So when I got there the sales manager told me to go ahead and go into the back and get my stuff. I went back there and NO CAR. I told the manager the car wasn't back there and he had no idea they had already sold my car.

Well the salesperson who sold me the car had already quit or been fired just within these few days, so that right there made me wonder what was going on. I had paid them a $2000 down payment on the new car. Since this happened I discussed with the manager about all the belongings that were in the old car. He agreed that I wouldn't need to worry about the down payment since I had stereo equipment and tools in the car that valued more than the down payment I gave them. I cancelled the check for the down payment.

Now, a year and a half later after purchasing the car I get a letter in the mail from an attorney's office stating I owe them the money for this check. I never got any correspondence from Hays, so I assumed the manager took care of it. I called the attorney office and Hays to tell them about this and of course the manager no longer works there. (There's a surprise!) They won't do anything for me so I lost all the stuff from my car and now they also want money from me. Well guess what it's been a year and a half and the money has been spent. I am not paying them for this. If there was a problem they should have contacted me over a year ago instead of waiting until now. Now I don't know what I should do to fight this. I don't have any of the receipts from what was in the car. I may be able to get a copy of the receipt from where I bought the stereo, but not the other stuff.

I would never do business with Hays ever again. If you know someone thinking about purchasing from them I would advise them against it. If they can't keep employees, they certainly can't keep customers.
