My husband co-signed for a car loan, was never sent anything about the loan even though Americredit always had his updated info. When we went to get a loan for a house we found out the car had late payments. So we called americredit up to see what was going on and what we could do about it we were willing to pay the $2000.00 that we thought was needed to bring everything up to date.
However we found out the car had already been repossed and sold for way under the amount the car was worth, so there was still a balance of $11,000.00. We tried to get all the info about the account sent to us so we could make an informed desision on what to do next.
After repeated calls, and letters to Americredit nothing was ever sent to us.in the mean time they sent the account to a attorney who never once contacted us. I, Richards wife tried to find out info from americredit thru the attorney but he would not speek with me since i was not on the account and ignored all my husbands attempts to speek wiht him, untill we decided we would pay $7000.00 for a car that was not ours and if we would have been notified we would have only had to pay 1500.00 when payments we beginning to be late.
So americredit agreed on 7000.00 would settle our account. We paid this. Now we are trying to buy another house and our cedit shows a negitive past due account from americredit for $6200.00. Everything should have been taken care of and i have been trying to contact americredit and the attorney in this case and can not get anyone to return my calls.
If you ask me, the way americredit dose business should be against the law. Not only dose it ruin credit, but it also ruins the economy.
