Hustedt Hundai
Service dept cannot diagnose problems that might cost them money Ripoff

I bought a used vehicle from hustedt hundai in July. It was a 2000 Hundai Sonata with 46,000 miles. As a second owner I was told that I was only entitled to the 5 year 60,000 mile warranty. When I bought the vehicle that warranty only had 3 months left so the salesman Pat told me that because I was paying cash for the car $6,200.00 that Hundai would give me an additional year warranty. It is 11 months after the fact and it turns out that the cars transmission needs to be rebuilt and now Hustedt claims I have no warranty. Just as frustrating is the fact that when I brought the vehicle in with my complaint of a hesitation and a churping as the car shifted in and out of gear they reported not to have found any of this occuring. They did find however that my transmission fluid was 2 quarts low but other then paying them to do the scheduled transmission "service" on the vehicle they did not see this as a problem. Two days later I brought the car to amco transmissions where they drove the car with me and was amazed that a licensed mechanic couldnt feel the hesitation in the car along with the churping going on. The car ended up with a rebuilt transmission that cost me 2700.00. I am ready to expose Hustedt Hundai for the dishonest, incompetent establishment that they are. I have 3 phone calls in to the General Manager Vinny Ferrara and have yet to receive a phone call back. I am a single mom living paycheck to paycheck and this transmission repair has really put me in financial dire straights. I called the 1800 633 5151 hundai usa customer complaint line and although the girl Crystal on the other line was very nice she very nicely informed me that the dealership may not be responsible for a rebuilt transmission on one of their cars even though my car has not yet hit 60,000 miles. She also informed me that if I did not keep up on my scheduled maintenence that the warranty might have been void anyway. When i explained that I acquired the car at 46,000 miles she informed me that the dealership is not responsible for making sure that a vehicle is up to date on it's service before they resell that vehicle. She told me that it is the customers responsibility to make sure that all suggested services have been done. Well ofcourse that is not what my salesman Pat told me when I bought the car from the dealer on July. He ensured me that the car would be put through a "100 point check system" that would make sure that all is well with the vehicle. What a fool I was looking back. It's a shame too because I love the car but I will never own another Hundai thanks to this companie's disconcern with customer satisfaction.
