An automobile was purchased from an automobile dealership under the condition that we could not get an extended warranty. We were by the dealer that Exotic Warranty Company could write policies in California and would cover the car, after it was inspected by an ASE certified shop.
The warranty was sold as part of the purchase price of the automobile and appears on the invoice. It covered an additional 80,000 miles and was sold for almost $6,000. The inspection was completed and the warranty validated within a couple weeks; all was acknowlwged via emails with Exotic Warranty.
A number of months later, the automobile was taken in for servicing. Upon having a number of repairs suggested for the vehicle, the local dealership called for authorization and told us that this extended warranty was not valid and that the company was shut down on 4-12 by the State of Florida and placed into receivership. All contracts were cancelled by the Court at that date.
It appears that this Florida-based Company was selling extended warranties through numerous automobile dealerships across the country as well as directly online illegally since 2003.
