I just wanted to let people know that if you buy a car at Car Max, be sure to get it checked out by your own mechanic, regardless of their so-called inspection. I recently purchased a car from them, one that had incidently been through two Car Max locations, and no one picked up on the repair work that had been done in the trunk. When I noticed it (and understand that I know nothing about cars), I took my car to my mechanic who confirmed in less than five minutes that it had indeed been involved in an accident.
When I confronted Car Max about the situation they confirmed this, apologized and said they would buy my car back. However, they were unwilling to work with me to sell me a car with comparable miles/price AND I had to badger them for weeks to actually pay the loan off. They are very difficult to work with b/c apparently they have "policies" they must adhere to-except for the whole "we don't sell wrecked cars" thing.
