Sun Devil Auto
Ripoff, Fraudulent, Liars! Phoenix, AZ Ray Rd. Ripoff, tried to destroy my car, endanger my life with suspect repairs purposely. After challenging work

Ok, this is one of the most annoying occurances I have ever had to deal with. These idiots are six short of a dozen... All of them working there that I dealt with. I had a problem with my Nissan Sentra starting on Thanksgiving 2004. Had it towed to Sun Devil on Ray Rd.in Ahwatukee (Phoenix). Thank God I had AAA Roadside service... Because this would be the first of many tow jobs. Car did not run. Thought it was the battery. Turned out to be the Distributor. Well, at first. Sun Devil claimed there was nothing wrong and it was ok. But I should leave it there so they could search for things wrong with it. Spoke to Mr. Customer Service Extraordinaire "Steve". I know. We did share something (our names).

Calls me towards the end of the day saying I needed to leave it overnight and they would start on it next day. I asked him what was so difficult. Wouldn't the computer tell him what was wrong by hooking up the diagnostic test? He said give it a day. So I did. He said the next day it was a faulty distributor... So I paid the 650 to have the work done and then additional money to have oil cleaned up and he tried to sell me on other services he said were just maintenance and not required. I said no thanks. I was planning on selling car in a few months. Just needed to get by till then. Get home and in 3-4 days. It starts breaking down again. I became really annoyed and went online to AAA website to find a certified repair station to give a second opinion. I had it towed down another repair store. A unical 76 store in Tempe. Closest store to me. They evaluated it and told me that the new distributor was faulty and put in poorly which caused more problems and there was oil everywhere..?? I asked how that could happen. They had no idea. I watched them open hood and inspect so no BS on their part. So, they offered to get me up and going enough to bring it to Sun Devil and Have Distributor replaced for free as warranty implies.

I called SunDevil and they asked me to bring it in and they would look at it. I told them what Unical 76 said. They laughed at it telling me "We shall see." Implying Unical was lying about the problem. So, I again (stupidly) left it overnight and again they claimed to not be able to find anything wrong with it. I also had it put in good enough shape to be able to drive for a week or two so I could get it to Sun Devil and back to Unical to have other work done if Sun Devil tried to pull a stunt. So, the next day when I kept getting "We cannot see what is wrong?" I called Unical and they told me that unfortunately I would have to buy another distributor to put in car but they would give me the old one to dispute if I needed to. I called Sun Devil and told them to stop any work on my car that I was on my way to pick it up and take it off the lot. Steve, suddenly became concerned and said "Why?" I said I wanted no more damage done to my car (I was frusterated) I told him to stop what they were doing (which was next to nothing) and put car back as it was when it got there and I would be down to pick it up. I was nice about it as I wanted it to be good enough to get to Unical. He said "whatever Man!" I got down there and picked up car and started to drive car to Unical. Suddenly car started shaking and check engine light came on. I was furious! This did not happen on way to Sun Devil. Barely made it at crawl speed to Unical. Had car checked and they told me components in engine were cracked and messed with! Sob's! And that car was now not safe to drive and appeared "Tampered" with. Had those repairs done for free and had new distributor put in...$430. Called Sun Devil to get my money back. They refused and refused to honor warranty. Wanted me to actually give them my faulty distributor that unical let me keep. Wrapped up untouched. I told them I would send it to manufacturer myself to get the refund. They told me that to get my money, they would need to evaluate the distributor and send it back! Were they nuts? I was not doing that! Who knows what they would have done. They kept telling me that is what they needed to do. When I say they... I mean corp office for Sun Devil.

I was very nice to them at first. Trying to get money back. But then the games started so I got upset. Told them I would call an attorney... They told me "see you in court!" So, I remembered that I paid with a credit card. With Visa Symbol on it... Called Visa and reported it as fraud... And called the bank issuing the Credit card. Gathered my receipts and written work by Sun Devil and Unical... Faxed it to Fraud Depart. They took one look at that and in a day they reversed the charges onto those Idiots at Sun Devil! HAHA I got my money back and got the last laugh! In closing. Knowing I got my money back... I called Steve at Sun Devil and asked him why he and his baffoons could not fix my car and the so called Amatuers (as he called them) at Unical could fix car and it was running ok... His response was that his guys were soo skilled that they over-anaylized the problem causing them to "miss" the cause of the problem! Can you believe this Moron! I laughed uncontrollably! I then asked him why he is not AAA Certified? He said that means nothing and that his guys are all ASE certified... And he would never hire a guy from a place like Unical... I told him that is hilarious as some "amatuer" fixed my car and he and his fools could not!

Then I took the pleasure of calling Sun Devil Corp office to let them know I got my money back. They hung up on me. Guess they already knew! LOL. I received a certified letter from Sun Devil a few weeks later. Never opened it. Never heard from them again. Damn, I could fill in with so much more but I think that sums most of it up. My learning experience? Learn how to fix cars! Or buy close to new or factory certified used with the best warranty so repair shops are not even a discusion unless it is maintanance work! Take the hit on depreciation on a newer car... Because repairs suck! Oh, I did write this report a year later. But with all the venting on this site and other stories of nightmares on suspect companies. I felt compelled to report this. Plus, Sun Devil claimed no one ever had anything bad to say about them. Everyone who knows about these clowns that I have spoken to said stay clear of them.
