I went to Showcase Honda with my wife to purchase a vehicle, after many hours of constant waiting for what now seems but a tactic to make people unable to really be alert for the con games.
After picking a Chevy Cavalier to purchase and being told that the interest rate would be 24%, not surprising due to financing post bankruptcy discharge. We got finally after too many hours to the finance office, where we told the payment amount and most all focus at this point was on the payment amount.
The finance manager then tried to upsell on the usuals, Extended Warranty, Roadside Assistance, and Gap Coverage. At no time did we ever discuss the following; automate??? What the heck is this crap $200, Theftguard $599.
We specifically said we do not want any upsell products at all, we explained we have roadside assistance and have no need for it. However the finance manager / salesman was persistent in suggesting that he could lower the price of the gap since I expressed some interest in that, so he said he'd drop the rate to 23% so that the payments would still be low and drop the cost of the Gap Insurance coverage to $400. He never indicated that he was including other items such as Automate, TheftGuard, and Roadside Assistance all extra items totalling approximately $1000.00.
We left the office late in the evening and went home. At a later date when United Auto Lenders called to verify the contract, I reviewed it, and that's when I noticed the extra's that somehow did not seem to be there when the paperwork was signed. Not sure if we have a signed contract here, that was actually signed, something extremely fishy here.interestingly they have cameras in the signing room that they supposedly record people during signing so they can't lie. I wonder why this is, now I actually would like to subpoena the videotape to see the truth, however I doubt they actually taped anything and believe it's a ruse.
When we went to the dealership to confront the GM which we didn't speak to, we had salesman act like everything was going to be worked out and corrected, then they had us sit and wait, and then bring a business manager, who after explaining the situation, he explained that the extra's are on the contract because they are part of the package with the Gap Coverage and he explains that is how the rate was bought down. Excuse me, no one ever said anything about paying junk fees, and paying for things you have no need for so that you could drop your rate. That is pathetic, I then told the business manager he should go online and notice that there seems to be others that have had problems with Showcase Honda, told him to go to usacomplaints.com and that he should reimburse monies for what should not have been in the contract, which he absolutely refused, and then when I said I should stand on the corner with a sign stating don't do business with Showcase Honda his reaction was to say, "well you'd just be making a fool out of yourself, " I made sure as I walked out that I was loud and clear of what a ripoff Showcase is.
I am looking for others with the same scenario, especially those with poor to fair credit who got stroked at Showcase Honda, I want to make a case to their lenders not to do business with them, I want to contact the Arizona Dealer Board, I want to contact the AZ Attorney General, FTC, Arizona Banking Commission, and every agency to dig into this piece of crap no good, dishonest dealership, where they are sitting around joking how they can screw people with poor credit that are actually trying to reestablish their credit and not giving a damn about them.
Showcase Honda deserves their own medicine. I Pray to God that Showcase Honda losers their auto dealer license and loses every lender.
